About

Abby Vail is an author drawn to the macabre. Her work ranges from whimsically spooky middle grade to dark adult horror. Writhe is her debut novella. Her middle grade novel, Bad Manor, will be releasing June 8th, 2027 with Sley House Publishing.

Like many horror lovers, Abby grew up on Goosebumps and was engrossed in watching Michael Myers slash his way through Halloween without knowing just how big an impact those stories would have in her adult life.

A bassist for about seventeen years, she started out in an original rock band, Just Blush, moved on to funky solo bass performances, then metal tribute bands, and now enjoys being the singer/songwriter for Safe Sermon. Abby lives in Pennsylvania where she hosts R.I.P. Writers, a monthly horror writing group. When not writing or playing music, she’s spending time with her husband, three kids, two dogs (Frisbee and Poe), and one cat (Void).

And maybe a ghost.
